Warsaw Weekend Events: Free Jazz, Rooftop Films, Tickets Explained

Warsaw’s weekend calendar is packed, but knowing the real cost and getting through the door often depends on advance planning. Here’s what’s on, how much it really costs, and what you need to know before heading out.

Friday Night: Jazz Under the Stars in Praga

The Praga Jazz Sessions kick off Friday at 7 p.m. in the courtyard of the Koneser centre, at the corner of Ząbkowska and Targowa. Entry is free, but organisers expect around 1,200 people-so arrive by 6:30 p.m. to grab a spot. Food trucks line the square from 5 p.m., with pierogi and craft beer averaging 25-35 zł. The nearest metro station is Dworzec Wileński, a 7-minute walk.

Why this matters now: With summer in full swing and the city’s outdoor scene booming, free events like this fill up fast. Last weekend, similar concerts in the same venue saw queues snaking around the block by 6:45 p.m., according to the Warsaw Tourist Office.

Saturday: Food Truck Fest at Pole Mokotowskie

The Warsaw Food Truck Festival runs Saturday from noon to 10 p.m. on Pole Mokotowskie park, near the Metro Pole Mokotowskie stop. Entry is 5 zł for adults, under-12s free. Expect 30+ trucks serving Korean, Mexican, Polish and vegan options, with mains averaging 20-40 zł. Cash is not accepted-all vendors use card or mobile payments. The park has no dedicated parking; the nearest paid lot is at Galeria Mokotów, a 10-minute walk, charging 8 zł per hour.

On site, limited shaded seating means many attendees bring picnic blankets. The festival’s organiser, Street Food Polska, says they’ve added extra water stations this year after complaints last July about long queues. If you’re going with kids, arrive before 2 p.m. when the bouncy castle opens-and note that the pet zone requires pets to be leashed at all times.

Sunday: Rooftop Cinema at Marriott

Sunday evening, the Warsaw Panoramic Cinema series screens “Amélie” (in French with Polish subtitles) on the 40th-floor terrace of the Warsaw Marriott Hotel, al. Jerozolimskie 65/79. Tickets are 60 zł per person, available only online via eBilet.pl-none sold at the door. Doors open at 8 p.m., film starts at 9 p.m. The terrace holds 250 seats; as of Friday afternoon, eBilet showed 160 remaining.

Access: the lift to the terrace requires a valid ticket QR code, so have your phone ready. The hotel’s internal bar charges 25 zł for a glass of wine, 15 zł for soft drinks. No outside food or drink is allowed, but you can bring a small blanket-the terrace can get windy. The nearest bus stop is “Plac Zawiszy” on lines 127 and 158.

For a cheaper option, the free Sunday afternoon jazz concert on the Łazienki Park stage, starting at 4 p.m., draws crowds of up to 3,000, according to park staff. No reservations needed, but bring something to sit on.

Practical Tips for the Weekend

Public transport wise, weekend night buses run on lines N01-N95 every 30 minutes from midnight to 4 a.m. A single ticket costs 4.40 zł, a 24-hour pass 15 zł-both available via the jakdojade app. If you’re driving, be aware that the city has suspended parking fees in the paid parking zone for Sunday, but Saturday enforcement runs as usual until 6 p.m.

Weather forecast from the Polish Institute of Meteorology and Water Management shows Saturday with a high of 28°C, Sunday 26°C, with a 30 percent chance of isolated showers Sunday evening. Pack a light rain jacket if you’re heading to the rooftop cinema.
